JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Early Head Start Assistants IIB assist and support the classroom teacher in carrying out an educational program which prepares the children for school readiness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities of an EAIIB, Early Head Start Assistant include, but are not limited to:
1. Plans with the teacher for various assignments, areas of responsibility, and/or specific duties.
2. Assists the teacher with lesson planning and delivery of lessons.
3. Assists in mealtime preparation as needed.
4. Assists with classroom/behavior management plans.
5. Assists the classroom teacher and Alliance for Infants and Toddlers with meeting individual students' IFSP goals and making necessary adaptations.
6. Assists in carrying out a plan for meeting appropriate outdoor and indoor play and quiet time.
7. Assists in maintaining a wide range of suitable activities so that the children can make choices according to their own interests and needs.
8. Assists in diapering, toileting, and potty training in a positive manner.
9. Assists in providing easy and natural transitions for children moving from one activity to another.
10. Assists in completing home visits as mandated by the Head Start Performance Standards, to build trust and promote positive interactions with families.
11. Assists in ensuring that equipment and materials are in good condition and provide a setting that is orderly and attractive.
12. Attends pre- and in-service training as scheduled.
13. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE REQUIRED
Associate Degree with at least 12 college level credits in Infant/Toddler education OR infant- Toddler Development Credential (CDA)
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Varies based on the needs of the department

- First Aid certification/training (preferred)
- Familiarity with various student assistive devices (preferred)
