About Us
We are a growing Houston-based commercial drywall contractor looking for an experienced Commercial Drywall Estimator to join our team.
We are a small business focused primarily on commercial construction and are looking for the right person to help us grow and strengthen our drywall division. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who wants to become an important part of a growing company and help develop our estimating and bidding operations.
Position Overview
The Commercial Drywall Estimator will be responsible for reviewing commercial bid opportunities, performing detailed takeoffs, preparing competitive estimates and proposals, and helping determine which projects are the best opportunities for our company.
We currently use PlanHub and BuildingConnected to identify and manage bidding opportunities. For estimating and takeoffs, we use On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid.
Key Responsibilities
Review commercial construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
Prepare project estimates and pricing using Quick Bid
Estimate commercial drywall, metal framing, insulation, finishing, acoustical ceilings, and related scopes
Review bidding opportunities through PlanHub and BuildingConnected
Prepare accurate labor and material cost estimates
Prepare and submit professional proposals to general contractors
Review project scope for exclusions, clarifications, and potential risks
Track bid deadlines and maintain an organized bidding schedule
Communicate with general contractors regarding plans, specifications, and scope questions
Follow up on submitted bids and assist with project negotiations
Help identify profitable projects and opportunities for company growth
Qualifications
Previous commercial drywall estimating experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of commercial drywall and metal framing systems
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and construction documents
Experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid preferred
Familiarity with PlanHub and BuildingConnected is a plus
Strong understanding of labor, material, production rates, and project costs
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously
Strong communication and follow-up skills
Self-motivated and comfortable working in a growing small-business environment
