Job Summary
Imani House, a 33-year-old nonprofit, is seeking a Summer Camp Classroom Instructor with experience to join our vibrant summer team, where your skills and enthusiasm will inspire children to explore, learn, and grow through engaging activities and positive mentorship.
In this role, you will lead dynamic youth programs, facilitate outdoor and indoor activities, and create a safe, inclusive environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and personal development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives while developing your leadership and teaching skills in a lively camp setting. Note: This contract runs from July 15 through August 28, 2026. But it may be extended depending on your performance and our contracting.
Pay is based on experience. Preferred hours are 4 to 5 days a week. There is some flexibility in scheduling.

Duties:
- Supervise children during all camp activities to ensure safety, engagement, and positive behavioral management.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to coordinate schedules, share responsibilities, and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans that foster social skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and confidence.
- Support all children, including those who may have special needs
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere by promoting respect, kindness, and cooperation among campers.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to coordinate schedules, share responsibilities, and ensure smooth daily operations.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with elementary-age children
- Hold at least an Associate's degree. Early childhood development credentials or enrollment in early childhood college degree courses is a plus.
- Must be a step above other instructors and be able to manage a classroom, positively engage children and lead a group
- Have at least 2 years of experience with inner-city children in the classroom or daycare setting
- Have excellent cognitive skills and knowledge of classroom management with elementary age children (grades K-5)
- Work well with a team of instructors
- Have a pleasant cooperative personality with children, co-workers, and management
- Must be reliable, punctual, honest, and have excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to present yourself as a positive role model
- Demonstrated experience in classroom management skills along with knowledge of behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage children positively and effectively manage group dynamics
- Have lesson planning skills, work as a team player, and implement activities in collaboration with a co-instructor and the Program Directors
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
