Overview
The Night Dispatcher is responsible for managing and monitoring transportation operations outside of regular business hours. This role ensures timely communication between drivers, customers, and company staff to maintain efficient and safe transport of goods during nights. The schedule for this role is M-F 1430-2300.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track all active loads and trucks during after-hours periods.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and vendors outside of regular office hours.
- Dispatch and coordinate drivers to pick-ups, deliveries, or service calls as needed.
- Respond to emergencies, delays, or route changes, escalating critical issues to management when necessary.
- Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, ETAs, and any service disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain clear and accurate logs of all communications and incidents handled during the shift.
Qualifications:
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or dispatching (2 years minimum).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during overnight or weekend shifts.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, Samsara, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and trucking industry practices.
- Load Board knowledge
- Computer basic knowledge
- Bilingual
- Minimum 2 years experience contracting loads through load boards.
Pay: $16.00 per hour
