Dependable Part-Time Nanny / Family Assistant Needed for West Seattle Family

Location: West Seattle, between the Admiral and Alki neighborhoods
Ideal Start Date: September 14, 2026. The family has flexibility for the right candidate.
Schedule: Monday 1:00 PM-5:30 PM, Tuesday 2:00 PM-5:00 PM, Wednesday 1:00 PM-5:30 PM, Thursday 1:00 PM-5:30 PM, and Friday 11:30 AM-5:30 PM. This position provides 20 guaranteed hours each week. No travel or overnight care is required.
Children: Two children, ages 4 and 6
Compensation: $32-$36/hour DOE. 20 guaranteed hours per week, paid time off, paid sick leave, paid New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, mileage reimbursement for work-related driving, and legal W-2 household employment through an established payroll service. The family is open to considering higher compensation for an exceptional candidate.

Both parents have demanding careers. The family has successfully employed experienced professional nannies in the past and understands the value of a trusting, collaborative relationship with their caregiver.
They hope to find someone warm, energetic, organized, and proactive who genuinely enjoys their children while also helping their household run smoothly. Reliability is especially important. They need someone who is punctual, communicative, and can consistently be counted on.
The family also has a friendly, easygoing yellow Labrador.

The family's 6-year-old is energetic, creative, and social. She loves drawing, art projects, reading, parks, the beach, imaginative play, and the Museum of Flight. She also participates in swimming.

Driving is a regular part of this position. The nanny must have their own safe, reliable vehicle and be comfortable with school pickups and transportation to activities.

On Mondays and Thursdays, the nanny will generally arrive approximately one hour before school pickup to walk the dog, fold laundry, and begin dinner preparation.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable moving naturally between childcare and household support and will take pride in helping the family's afternoons and evenings run smoothly.
Responsibilities:

- Picking the children up from school and transporting them to activities
- Planning outdoor play, parks, bike rides, crafts, games, reading, and other age-appropriate activities while balancing active experiences with appropriate downtime
- Preparing family dinner Monday-Thursday
- Preparing children's school lunches and snacks Tuesday-Friday and keeping commonly used foods and snacks stocked
- Cleaning the kitchen after meal preparation and keeping lunchboxes, water bottles, and food containers ready for use
- Completing children's laundry, including clothing, towels, and bed linens
- Assisting with folding parents' laundry on Mondays and Thursdays
- Keeping children's bedrooms, play areas, school items, and frequently used belongings organized and encouraging the children to clean up after themselves
- Walking the family dog on Mondays and Thursdays
- Completing occasional child- or household-related errands
- Helping prepare the children and their belongings for school and activities and communicating with the parents about school items, schedule changes, concerns, and needed supplies

Requirements
Qualified candidates should possess:
- A minimum of three years of professional childcare experience
- Experience caring for preschool and school-age children
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- A safe and reliable vehicle
- Current Child CPR and First Aid certification
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- At least three childcare-related references
- The ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check
- English proficiency
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- A willingness to work as a legal W-2 household employee
- Up to date on COVID, annual influenza, MMR and TDAP vaccinations
- A strong interest in a long-term position
