Temporary IBD Production Technician
Position Summary
VALO BioMedia North America is seeking an IBD Production Technician to support the production of biological products using SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) poultry. This hands-on role combines animal care, production support, inventory management, and documentation while maintaining the highest standards of biosecurity, quality, and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Care for SPF poultry by feeding, watering, monitoring health, and maintaining clean housing.
- Assist with biological production activities following established procedures.
- Receive, organize, and manage production materials and inventory.
- Prepare production areas, equipment, and supplies.
- Complete production documentation accurately and maintain traceable records.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment and facility conditions and report any concerns.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Support warehouse and inventory control activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the IBD Production Manager.
Schedule
This position’s schedule will be Monday-Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm. This position is temporary. Job is estimated to last between 3-6 months. The opportunity for Full-Time employment after the temporary period is over could be available to the right individual.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, agriculture, animal care, warehouse, laboratory, or production is preferred.
- Comfortable working around poultry and following strict biosecurity procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to follow established procedures and safety standards.
- Experience working in environments requiring strict SOP adherence strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Technical Skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and accurately operate VALO’s proprietary technology.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Language & Communication Skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow SOPs, safety rules, and technical documents.
- Ability to complete routine reports and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Professional communication when interacting with internal stakeholders and customers as needed.
Reasoning & Problem-Solving
- Ability to apply sound judgment and common-sense reasoning to written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and escalate concerns appropriately.

Work Environment & Exposure
- Exposure to poultry environments and agricultural settings.
- Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents when cleaning equipment.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Strict adherence to biosecurity entry/exit procedures required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in SPF, poultry, hatchery, laboratory, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with biosecurity-driven operations.
- Experience working under quality management systems.
Failure to consistently meet established performance expectations may result in corrective action, up to and including termination of employment.
