Job Summary
The Childcare Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning, developing and overseeing a safe, loving and engaging childcare for children whose families attend Sunday Assembly worship at Holy Wisdom Monastery. The coordinator provides direct care on Sunday mornings when needed, recruits and trains volunteers to ensure high-quality care in a positive environment, manages scheduling and coordination of childcare volunteers and implements all child safety and security policies. If Sunday Assembly has an active Children’s Prayer leader, the Childcare Coordinator works in concert with this volunteer to complement any approved curriculum in addition to scheduling their volunteer needs. This is a part time position, from 4-8 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, schedule and supervise all volunteers who work with children.
- Ensure all volunteers have completed required background checks and training.
- Conduct regular evaluations of the childcare program’s effectiveness.
- Enforce the monastery’s safety policies.
- Keep up-to-date records of children's attendance and family contact information.
- Prepare the Hospitality Room and other spaces before each Sunday service to ensure they are clean and free of hazards; restore rooms to their previous setup.
- Communicate with families to keep them informed about policies, events and their children's experiences.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for new families with young children.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to coordinate childcare for special events, meetings and programs.
- Write occasional articles about the Childcare program.
- Coordinate how childcare can support an active Children’s Prayer community
- Communicate with the Children’s Prayer leader about schedule, transitions and attendance across both programs
- Help design and implement a marketing plan with the Marketing Team and Volunteer Children's Prayer leader
- Coordinate with Children’s Prayer volunteer to organize up to 4 Family Gatherings per year.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in children's ministry, early childhood education, or a related field is preferred.
- A heart for children and a passion for the spiritual care of families.
- A personal commitment to Benedictine values.
- The ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers and parents.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to be creative and flexible.
- Age 18 and older
- Must be able to pass a background check.
