Position Summary
Plastic Machining Inc. (PMI) is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. This position is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for precision-machined plastic and engineered material components. The ideal candidate will have experience with Edgecam programming software, strong machining knowledge, and the ability to work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and modify CNC programs using Edgecam software for mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers.
- Review engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications to develop efficient machining strategies.
- Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining methods to maximize productivity and part quality.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle times and reduce scrap.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production personnel during new job launches and process improvements.
- Perform machine setup support and assist operators with programming-related issues.
- Verify program accuracy through simulation and first-article inspections.
- Maintain organized program documentation, setup sheets, tooling lists, and revision records.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications, and safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, workholding, and machine setup.
- Experience programming CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
Preferred
- Experience with Edgecam CAD/CAM software.
- Experience machining plastics, thermoplastics, and high-performance engineering materials.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and 3D CAD models.
- Multi-axis programming experience (4-axis and 5-axis machining).
- Knowledge of ISO quality standards and inspection processes.
