Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Truck & Trailer Painter to join our team at either our Crestwood, Illinois or Kansas City, Missouri location.
The Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, painting, and refinishing commercial trucks, trailers, and equipment. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality finishes while maintaining productivity and following safe work practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare truck and trailer surfaces for paint
- Sand, grind, feather-edge, and repair imperfections
- Mask vehicles and components prior to painting
- Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications
- Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes
- Blend colors to achieve proper color matches
- Perform spot repairs and complete refinishing jobs
- Maintain paint booth and painting equipment
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Work closely with body technicians and shop management to meet production schedules
Qualifications
- Previous commercial truck, trailer, heavy equipment, or automotive painting experience required
- Experience with HVLP spray guns and modern paint systems
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques
- Ability to accurately mix and match paint colors
- Familiarity with primers, sealers, clear coats, and industrial coatings
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable attendance and positive work ethic
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a shop environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience painting commercial trucks or trailers
- Body repair or collision repair experience
- Experience with fleet refinishing
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Walk throughout the shop and work areas
- Use hands and fingers to handle tools, equipment, and materials
- Reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb as needed
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment
- Work on ladders, platforms, and around commercial trucks and trailers
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, eye protection, gloves, and hearing protection
- Work in varying temperatures and around paint fumes, dust, and shop noise while following all safety procedures
- Have sufficient vision (with or without corrective lenses) to distinguish colors and identify surface imperfections
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
(Additional overtime may be available)
