Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and updating records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout the visit.
- Support clinical staff with tasks such as administering medications, wound care, or basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
- Perform diagnostic support activities including X-ray processing or assisting with other imaging procedures in compliance with safety protocols.
- Manage medical documentation with precision, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping.
- Provide exemplary patient service by addressing questions, coordinating appointments, and ensuring a positive experience in both outpatient and inpatient environments.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and patient care protocols across various specialties including geriatrics, internal medicine, or emergency medicine.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and appointment scheduling; experience with ICD coding is highly preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are advantageous.
- Previous hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus; familiarity with inpatient units like PICU or medical-surgical wards is beneficial.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration, and supporting diagnostic procedures confidently.
