Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the Lead QA/POC Technologist is responsible for the daily oversight of the Quality and Point of Care (QC/POC) services of the laboratory. The position assists the Medical Director with Quality/POC oversight of the laboratory, while helping the Director assure continuous, reliable, day-to-day operation of the department.
Collaborates with the Director of Laboratory Services, Medical Director, Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, other hospital staff members, and staff from supported outreach locations on issues related to Quality and Point of Care management. This position will be responsible for the operation and implementation of quality and patient satisfaction programs within the Laboratory and its many outpatient clinics and services.
The Lead QA/POC technologist will be responsible for the day to day implementation and performance of the continuous quality improvement program including protocols, tools and systems for the efficient monitoring, prevention and correction of quality deviations in a clinical laboratory setting. He or she will be responsible to implement, communicate and maintain all laboratory quality measures. This position will also be responsible to keep in a readiness state with accreditation entities for quality and POC activities
What you will need:
- A Bachelor degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution with at least 4 years of general lab experience in high complexity testing including Point of Care preferred.
- Bachelor degree required.
- Two years’ previous hospital supervisory experience preferred.
- MLS/MLT certification required.
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
- Required to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes.
- Required to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
- Required to achieve all departmental goals and competencies while actively contributing to the department’s ongoing strategic initiatives.
