NOTICE OF VACANCYInstructional AssistantTantasqua Regional High School2026-2027 School YearAnticipated Start Date: August 31, 2026Reports to: Special Educators/Special Education Curriculum Supervisor or General Educators with whom he or she works for daily supervision and to the building principal and assistant principal, or their designee, for assignments and evaluations.ResponsibilitiesProvides assistance to assigned students while working in and out of a variety of classrooms and within the school environmentEssential Functionsmaintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and their recordsprovides reinforcement/specially designed instruction to students in small and large groupsassists in the writing of progress notes plans modified lessons under direct supervision of special/general educators or specialistsprovides small group instructional reinforcement attends Team meetings and IEP meetings as requestedattends parent conferences as requestedadministers tests to individuals or small groups, as neededmeets with teachers/specialists for curriculum discussions as requestedmeets with teachers and other specialists to discuss school issues as requestedcarries out personal health and safety protocols, including diaper changing as necessary, with appropriate trainingcompiles reports of daily accomplishments and/or behaviors for regular meetings with regular and special educators to review students progress. These reports may be sent home daily, under the direct supervision of the special educatorsassists in ordering supplies and materials, as requestedsubstitutes for teachers as requestedparticipates in in-service training programs and/or professional development programs as assigned performs other duties as assigned Ability towork with children of varying abilities, including children with substantial disabilities communicate effectively with students, teachers, and administrationmodify student work to match students level of understanding and developmentmaintain cooperative and productive working relationship when dealing with students and staffsolve practical problems with students and staffunderstand and carry out oral and written directionsplan and organize work to meet deadlinescollect data under the direction of the teacher/therapist provide information and assistance to parents, the general public and other staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely mannerKnowledge ofchild development and challenges faced by students with learning or substantial disabilitiescurriculum expectations of grade level/discipline to which he/she is assignedavailable assistive technologies, with appropriate trainingeffective use of computer and relevant educational software applicationsinterpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesysafe operation of school equipment necessary to successfully complete daily tasks.
