Preschool Teacher
Bluebird Atelier is an educational organization that offers a Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood program. Our mission is to cultivate lifelong learning through exploration, creativity, and collaboration, honoring each learner’s unique path.
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Preschool Teacher is responsible for co-teaching, ensuring the supervision and safety as well as the academic, social, and emotional growth and development of all children in their care. The teacher is also responsible for lesson planning, family communication, and assuring compliance with all state and local governing contracting agencies as well as the supervision of other staff members working in their classroom. All staff must believe in and act in accordance with Bluebird Atelier’s program mission and vision statements.
As Preschool Teacher you will be responsible for:
- Developing emergent curriculum with teacher and admin team, as well as implementing Bluebird’s assigned curriculum, as advised by administration
- Maintaining a warm and welcoming environment by greeting each child and caregiver at drop-off and pickup times, and using Bluebird’s guidelines for communication and demeanor while in the presence of children
- Maintaining compliance with all Bluebird protocols for safety, well-being, and best practices in early childhood education
- Conducting scheduled formal and informal assessments for each child in assigned group
- Communicating regularly with families, with a warm and welcoming approach
- Conducting parent-teacher conferences in the Fall and Spring
- Participating in school-wide and class related events
- Communicating and planning regularly with support teachers for students who receive special services
- Participating in additional collaborative activities, including IEP meetings, to ensure each child receives the maximum support with their individualized goals
- Setup and cleanup of classroom activities for a wide range of learners
- Mentoring assistant teacher and other staff members who assist in your group
- Facilitating learning and play activities with whole group, small groups, or 1-on-1 with students, in the classroom and outdoor spaces, and on field trips
- Facilitating routines with groups of children, such as hand washing, toileting/diaper changing/bathroom breaks, snack and cleanup
- Facilitating cleanliness and health measures with children such as sanitization
- Assisting with drop-off and pick-up of students at the beginning and end of the preschool or afterschool session, which entails supervising students and getting children safely into their adult’s care
- Attending regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with leadership, including curriculum planning sessions
- Engaging in regular and timely communication with other staff and team members via email, text, and face-to-face
- Maintaining personal account in student / class management system (digital)
- Creating or preparing learning materials as needed as assigned during team planning meetings, and organizing and putting materials away properly
- Maintaining a clean and organized environment in all of our facilities, indoor and outdoor
- Maintaining required professional development credits as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), and maintaining an updated Training Record on PA Keys
- Engaging in additional professional development activities assigned by leadership, and staying current with best practices in early childhood education and the Reggio Emilia approach
Desired Experience / Qualifications:
- Early Childhood credits earned
- Experience with childhood and/or early childhood education
- Track record of completing tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Self starter who is able to work well independently and multitask with ease and confidence
- Team player with positive attitude who works well with others
- Appreciation for and knowledge of Reggio Emilia approach and STEAM education
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with families
- Social media skills a plus
Additional Abilities:
- Ability to lift/carry up to fifty pounds.
- Ability to move easily and comfortably with children throughout the day i.e. sitting, standing, squatting, etc.
- Ability to maneuver steps, possibly while carrying children

● Dependability – Punctual and reliable. Able to plan ahead, keep track of and complete responsibilities in a timely manner, and follow through with assigned tasks. Communicates frequently with management and seeks necessary information needed to complete tasks.
● Use of Data and Technology – Exhibits a familiarity and comfort with the use of the various technology tools we use to run and grow our programs, and is eager to learn and build proficiency in these areas.
