We are seeking an experienced, Hardware Systems Engineering Manager to lead the strategic design, development, and execution of our client's custom printed circuit boards. In this pivotal role, you will be hands on and focused on delivery while providing oversight and management to a small specialized, multidisciplinary engineering team focused on FPGA synthesis, CMOS development, and embedded microprocessor firmware debugging.
As a key technologist and leader, you will keep your finger on the pulse of emerging research and industry advancements, leveraging this knowledge to directly shape the future architecture and product roadmaps of our electronics and firmware divisions. You are a high-autonomy leader who thrives in navigating ambiguity, comfortable tackling broadly defined engineering challenges, and capable of both hands-on development while driving technical direction with minimal outside guidance.

- Define Electronics & Firmware Architecture: Lead the architectural definition and specification of digital/analog circuits, FPGAs, and embedded microprocessors to future-proof product roadmaps and data interfaces.
- Drive Innovation & Technical Direction: Evaluate emerging research, tools (CAD, simulation, and embedded IDEs), and industry advances to continuously evolve and shape the engineering division's technical capabilities.
- Manage Cross-Functional Engineering Delivery: Provide end-to-end oversight for a multidisciplinary team across circuit design, FPGA synthesis (Verilog/VHDL), and C/C++ firmware development.
- Own Product Lifecycle & Sustaining Engineering: Oversee the lifecycle of both new and legacy products, ensuring comprehensive test plans, product characterization (ASICs, modules), and rigorous debugging standards are met.
- Standardize Documentation & Quality Frameworks: Establish and enforce team standards for technical documentation, including system requirements, operating manuals, flowcharts, and verification protocols.
- Lead Resource Planning & Project Management: Utilize project management frameworks to balance technical resources between new product development and sustaining engineering, ensuring on-time project delivery.Minimum Qualifications
- Education: B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electronic system development, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex hardware systems.
- Leadership & Management: 3 to 5 years of experience in a formal engineering management or team leadership role, with direct responsibility for managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Technical Oversight (Electronics): Deep technical competence in the design, testing, and debugging of electronic circuits, with the ability to provide architectural guidance and conduct rigorous design reviews.
- Technical Oversight (Firmware & FPGA): Hands-on background or strong technical familiarity with Verilog/VHDL and C/C++ to effectively manage and evaluate engineers specializing in FPGAs, CMOS, and embedded microprocessor firmware debugging.
- Project Management: Demonstrated experience utilizing project management frameworks and tools to manage resources, balance new product development with sustaining engineering, and ensure on-time project delivery.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary fields, interface with stakeholders, and foster a high-performance team culture.
- Autonomy & Problem Solving: Proactive self-starter comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving technical direction, and tackling broadly defined problems with little to no outside direction.
Pay: $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
