JOB Under the general direction and supervision of the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director, the
Recreation Center Attendant is responsible for ensuring that the Center is clean and organized for the enjoyment of the City’s patrons, addressing safety concerns, and reporting any issues as required. The Recreation Center Attendant is responsible for maintaining awareness of activity throughout the Center – both planned use and casual use - and for being a point of contact for attendees at the Center while on duty. This position is responsible for assisting Recreation Center patrons at the Kenai Recreation Center. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Follow daily routine and complete checklists to ensure Center is maintained and ready for the next shift.

Assist in routine cleaning on each shift; address spills or messes quickly to ensure safety and upkeep of the facility.

Monitor Recreation Center sign-in and attendance; collect entry fees.

Assist with check-in/check-out of equipment or property of the Recreation Center.

Enforce facility rules in a courteous but firm manner.

Maintain awareness of patrons within the facility.

Promptly report any identified maintenance concerns to the Supervisor as soon as possible.

Provide information to patrons and visitors of the Kenai area as requested.

Complete required training and other continuing education programs as requested.

Offer assistance with sports and games as available.

Must have regular, reliable, and predictable attendance at work.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Recent experience with and appreciation of recreation activities, games, crafts and/or athletics

Knowledge of equipment and recreational spaces within the facility

Knowledge of common recreational games and activities
WORKING ENVIRONMENT The work environment is typically in an indoor setting, adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works among the various spaces within the Recreation Center facility. This position may be required to work at night and during the weekends and holidays as scheduled.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate office equipment, including telephones, copiers, computers and keyboards. The Recreation Center Worker communicates orally in person and on the telephone; may sit for extended periods of time; as well as stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and may be required to drive or walk to other City or buildings. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to hear and to talk and communicate verbally in person as well as on a telephone to meet the essential functions of the position.
