In this vital role, you will support pediatric dentists in delivering exceptional dental care tailored specifically for children. Your enthusiasm and compassionate approach will help create a positive, comfortable experience for young patients while ensuring clinical procedures are performed efficiently and safely. Responsibilities
- Assist pediatric dentists during various dental procedures, including examinations, cleanings, X-rays, and oral surgeries, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection prevention management and dental sterilization procedures
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools, adhering to radiation safety protocols
- Manage patient records by accurately documenting medical history, vital signs, treatment notes, and procedural details in electronic health record (EHR) systems like , Dentrix, or Epic; Dentrix Ascend is a plus.
- Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote lifelong dental health habits
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support the dental reception process by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry preferred; previous dental clinic experience is highly valued
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and medical documentation standards
- Certification in Dental Assisting (CDA) or equivalent; knowledge of dental x-ray techniques and infection control standards including aseptic technique and healthcare infection prevention and control expertise
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining high standards of infection prevention management
- Administering nitrous oxide and assisting with anesthesia
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members while demonstrating clinical confidentiality policies
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements related to medical records management and patient privacy
