Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions while ensuring proper cash management practices.
- Communicate effectively with customers to provide assistance and answer inquiries regarding products and services.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area to enhance the shopping experience.
- Assist in product demonstrations and promotions to encourage sales and inform customers about new items.
- Supervise junior staff during busy periods, ensuring smooth operations at the register.
- Utilize basic math skills to calculate totals, give change, and handle returns or exchanges as necessary.
- Uphold phone etiquette when answering customer calls or inquiries related to store operations.
Experience
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with retail math concepts is advantageous for managing transactions effectively.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems is desirable; training will be provided as needed.
- Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and team members.
- A willingness to learn about products and services offered in the store to better assist customers is important.
