Family Law Paralegal/Legal Assistant
The Law Office of Lisa Hennessy Fitzpatrick, PLLC is seeking a Family Law Paralegal/Legal Assistant.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick’s practice experience focuses on representing clients in the following areas of the law: Divorce, Family Law, Separation Agreements, Child Custody, Alimony, Child Support, Adoptions, Equitable Distribution, Wills, Name Changes, DVPO, Contract Drafting, Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements.
Job Description:
This position is for someone who is seeking long-term employment. Professional business dress and appearance is required. Must have excellent customer service skills that include being able to speak well on the phone and draft professional emails. Must be a fast learner, hard worker, independent, takes initiative, and able to multi-task.
The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
- setting up and drafting correspondence and legal documents for attorney, drafting lawsuits, pleadings, Financial Affidavits, drafting discovery, preparing discovery responses, setting up and drafting Orders, conferring with related parties, keeping schedules, scheduling appointments and consultations, preparing exhibits and exhibit notebooks, monitoring progress and deadlines, following up to ensure all required actions are completed. Being knowledgeable of the local family court rules and the Rules of Civil Procedure for deadlines.
- Scheduling and managing appointments
- Checking in and Greeting Clients
- knowing how to e-file pleadings and use the portal and search cases
- Opening files and maintaining files
- Copying documents - scanning documents for electronic file
- organizing and cleaning up waiting room area and office
- Answering Phones
- Drafting Letters
-Sending professional emails
- Running errands as needed by Attorney
- Taking out trash /vacuuming as needed
- getting the mail
This position requires extensive interaction with clients. You are required to have a high standard of ethics and maintain confidentiality.
Pay Range: Pay based upon experience.
Other Requirements:
- NC Certified Paralegal preferred
- a Minimum of 2 years' paralegal experience required/law firm experience in Family Law or law office experience
- Paralegal experience in the area of family law preferred
- Bachelor's Degree or a combination of an Associate Degree from an approved Paralegal Technology Program through the American Bar Association
- Notary Public REQUIRED (or must be willing to obtain for employment)
- Knowledgeable with Computers
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- good typing skills, able to type fast and correctly
- Excellent interpersonal skills and phone etiquette.
