Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Critical Care House Supervisor to oversee the operations of our intensive care units and ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, including ICU and Level I Trauma Center exposure, along with strong leadership capabilities. As the House Supervisor, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage patient assessments, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations to promote a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment for patients and staff alike. This role offers an opportunity to lead with expertise in medical documentation, EMR/EHR systems, and complex clinical procedures within a dynamic hospital setting.
Duties
- Provide immediate oversight of critical care units, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance in accordance with HIPAA and state healthcare laws.
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform clinical decision-making.
- Supervise nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams, fostering effective communication, team management, and adherence to nursing policies.
- Oversee medical documentation processes including ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, medical records management, and accurate charting within EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as ventilator management, catheterization, IV infusion/insertion, tube feeding, and sterile technique applications.
- Facilitate discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and compliance with long-term care regulations to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure proper medication administration, injection techniques, and pain management protocols are followed in accordance with hospital policies.
- Lead incident investigations related to acute pain management or infection control issues while maintaining a focus on quality improvement initiatives.
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I Trauma Center experience, and familiarity with Level II trauma protocols.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient data management.
- Strong leadership skills with supervising experience managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams in fast-paced environments.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, diagnostic evaluation techniques like sonography or spinal tap procedures.
- Expertise in managing complex clinical procedures including airway management, cardiac catheterization, venipuncture, sterile processing, and catheter care.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards for accurate billing and documentation; CPT coding knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments through vital signs monitoring and physical examinations while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; knowledge of dementia care or behavioral health is advantageous.
- Strong managerial communication skills for effective team supervision and collaboration across departments such as emergency medicine or hospital medicine.
- Knowledge of hospital policies related to infection control, long-term care regulations, occupational health standards, and NCQA standards for quality assurance.
