Job Description
Recycle Management LLC, a family-owned and operated pure-play metal processing company, is seeking a skilled Large Excavator Operator for our automobile shredder and shear operation in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating large excavators equipped with orange peel grapple material handlers to sort, segregate, and handle different grades of scrap metal with precision. Responsibilities include feeding our automobile shredder, feeding our 2000-ton shear, unloading trucks, and maintaining efficient operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate large excavators with orange peel grapples to sort, segregate, and handle various grades of scrap metal.
- Feed the automobile shredder and 2000-ton shear to ensure continuous production.
- Unload trucks and manage material flow to support processing operations.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance checks.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals.
- Report equipment issues or concerns to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Experience: Multiple years of verifiable experience operating large excavators with orange peel grapple material handlers in scrap metal processing, preferably feeding automobile shredders and large shears.
- Not Accepted: Operators with experience limited to mini excavators, skid loaders, or forklifts need not apply.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to operate large excavators with orange peel grapples with precision and safety.
- Strong knowledge of sorting and segregating different grades of scrap metal for shredder and shear operations.
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Requirements:
- Must pass a hands-on skills test to demonstrate proficiency.
- Must pass a background check and drug test prior to hiring.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks.
