We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by restraining animals safely and effectively.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Perform routine kennel duties, including cleaning, feeding, and exercising animals.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians.
- Assist with laboratory work, including collecting samples and performing basic tests.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each animal patient.
- Support clients by providing information about pet care and answering questions regarding services.
Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills:
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in medical procedures effectively.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain cleanliness during procedures.
- Understanding of animal husbandry practices to promote overall health and well-being.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or similar environment is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform basic animal catheterization under supervision when necessary.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
