The Caterpillar International Learning Academy is seeking a specialized Nutritional Chef to lead our school’s culinary program. This role is designed for a proactive professional who enjoys both the art of healthy meal preparation and the strategy behind menu planning and inventory management.
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM (Includes a 30-minute break)
Key Responsibilities
- Menu Design: Create nutritious, kid-friendly monthly menus that comply with all CACFP guidelines and seasonal availability.
- Inventory & Procurement: Manage the kitchen budget by grocery shopping for supplies and maintaining an organized inventory. You will be responsible for ensuring we have fresh, high-quality ingredients on hand at all times.
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve all daily meals in our onsite warming kitchen, ensuring excellence in taste, presentation, and safety.
- Regulatory Leadership: Complete and maintain all CACFP trainings and documentation to ensure 100% compliance with state and federal programs.
- Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with school leaders and parents to manage dietary restrictions, food allergies, and specialized nutritional plans.
- Physical Demands: This is an active role requiring standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. approximately 100 times per shift (essential for grocery transport and kitchen stocking).
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in childcare meal services or professional kitchen management.
- CACFP Expertise: Deep knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program meal patterns (or the ability to master them during onboarding).
- Organizational Skills: A "teamwork mindset" paired with the ability to manage a budget and shopping schedule independently.
- Compliance: Must meet all State Child Care Licensing requirements.
- Demeanor: Positive, patient, and professional with a genuine love for supporting children’s health.
Pay: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour
