Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using industry-leading software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
- Perform detailed data entry and account reconciliation to verify payroll data accuracy, including hours worked, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Maintain and update payroll records within HRIS systems like PeopleSoft or Kronos to support reporting and auditing needs.
- Process journal entries related to payroll transactions for general ledger accounting and prepare reports for management review.
- Collaborate with accounting teams on accounts payable/receivable activities and assist with governmental or non-profit accounting requirements.
- Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors; implement corrective actions promptly.
- Support HR functions by assisting with benefits administration, employee inquiries, and compliance documentation related to payroll.
Experience
- Proven experience managing payroll using software such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro.
- Strong understanding of payroll management processes combined with knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with financial concepts related to benefits administration, tax regulations, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy, analysis skills, and account reconciliation within complex financial software environments.
- Knowledge of human resources systems (HRIS) like PeopleSoft or Ceridian enhances your ability to support comprehensive payroll functions.
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in accounts payable/receivable processes and bookkeeping tasks such as 10 key typing and account reconciliation.
- A background in technical accounting or governmental/non-profit financial management is a plus for this role.
