- Diagnose and troubleshoot underperforming or non-functioning systems using monitoring platforms, diagnostic tools, and hands-on electrical testing to identify root causes.
- Perform corrective repairs on commercial PV systems, including component replacement, wiring repairs, and reconfiguration of electrical connections as needed.
- Service and troubleshoot battery storage systems, rapid shutdown devices, and grid interconnection equipment on commercial installations.
- Complete service work efficiently while minimizing system downtime and disruption to commercial site operations.
- Ensure all service and repair work is completed in full compliance with local building and electrical codes, NEC requirements, safety standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
- Travel to commercial sites throughout Maryland and the surrounding D.C. metro area to perform scheduled service visits and respond to service calls in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate, detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, system performance data, and photo documentation for each site visit.
- Communicate clearly with the service manager and office regarding job status, parts needed, and any site conditions affecting scheduled work.
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash precautions, fall protection, and PPE requirements when working on rooftop, ground-mount, and carport commercial systems.
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times and immediately report any safety hazards or incidents.
- Represent Energy Select in a professional, courteous, and customer-focused manner at all times, ensuring a positive experience for commercial clients and partners.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, or installing commercial or utility-scale solar PV systems, or equivalent relevant electrical experience.
- Strong working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, PV system components (inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, transformers), and commercial electrical distribution.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, and electrical test equipment (multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers).
- Comfortable working at heights, on rooftops, and in confined spaces; able to safely climb ladders and use fall protection equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot independently in the field.
