Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
We are seeking a dedicated educational professional experienced in teaching students who are visually impaired to support a regional school district in Jacksonville, NC. This itinerant position offers the opportunity to work with a manageable K-12 caseload distributed across various schools within the county. You will play a vital role in enhancing the academic and social experiences of visually impaired students by providing specialized instruction and adaptive learning strategies tailored to their unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction to visually impaired students across K-12 grade levels.
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ specific visual needs and develop appropriate educational plans.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to support student success.
- Travel regionally within the county to serve assigned caseload, ensuring consistent and effective support.
- Utilize specialized materials and adaptive technology to facilitate learning.
- Maintain detailed records and progress reports for all students served.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
- Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired.
- Strong organizational skills to manage a regional itinerant caseload effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary educational teams.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel daily within the county.
