JOB SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry. Manage finance and accounting departments providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
· Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
· Participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
· Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
· Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
· Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
· Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
· Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.
· Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
· Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
· Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
· Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
· Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
· Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
· Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP system through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing.
· Ensure that the accounting department achieves its monthly KPIs and assist other departments with timely information (both scheduled and on-demand) to help them achieve their own department KPIs.
· Assist in preparation of annual budget and 5-year plan.
· Compare actual vs. plan (budget) analysis on a monthly basis. Prepare various financial analysis related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and expense information as needed for decision making support.
· Perform adhoc accounting duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, required
· CPA certification, preferred
· Hands on ERP experience a must
· Syspro experience, preferred
· 5+ years of manufacturing accounting experience
· 2+ years of experience as VP of Finance or equivalent
· Excellent Excel skills- pivots, power pivots, VBA or Macros, v-lookups
· Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills and high confidence in stating professional opinions
· Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts
· Food industry experience a plus
· Crystal or SQL reporting experience a plus
