OVERNIGHT TEAM MEMBER ( full-time)
Shifts include 11:00 pm - 7:00 am
As a vital part of our dedicated team, the Evening Team Member delivers exceptional hospitality, support, and compassionate care to the most vulnerable members of the homeless community. Our shelter operates with a low-barrier approach, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation. We prioritize creating a safe space for those coping with mental health issues and addictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all guests.
- Actively engage in de-escalating challenging behaviors, ensuring a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
- Collaborate with other team members to devise and implement effective solutions to maintain safety and provide shelter.
- Offer ongoing support and care tailored to the diverse needs of our community.
- Responsible for providing a safe, structured environment that meets the needs of the guests while maintaining professional and acceptable boundaries at all times.
- Enforce and follow all shelter policies.
- Provides consistent coverage for assigned shifts (both 4-9 and 4-late shift), working within the team and independently to complete all shift tasks.
- Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts (sending shift reports), as well as thorough incident reports.
- Utilize positive behavioral management techniques including verbal redirection.
- Monitor all areas of the shelter to ensure compliance with facility rules, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assist with intake, assign beds and lockers, issue linens/personal supplies and other items to guests entering into the shelter.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries with guests at all times.
- Provide all guests, staff, and volunteers with a safe and secure environment. This includes monitoring guest activities as well as regular walkthroughs of the shelter sleeping areas, common areas, and bathrooms.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining order and remaining calm under pressure.
- Has experience working with individuals who struggle with addiction and mental health issues.
- Must consistently communicate and uphold shelter policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate telephones and basic electronic and office equipment.
Composure: Ability to possess maturity, sense of confidence and emotional stability and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to represent the agency well and respond professionally in all situations. Ability to set and enforce behavioral limits.
Compensation: $16 - $18.00 per hour DOE ; PTO, 401k, Health, Vision and Dental Insurance.
