About the Role
Are you a passionate early childhood educator who believes toddlers learn best through play, curiosity, and meaningful relationships?
ONE Arts Community School – Lakeshore is seeking Lead and Assistant Toddler Teachers to join our Colchester team. Nestled on six beautiful acres, our Lakeshore campus offers children daily opportunities to learn through nature, movement, creativity, and exploration. Our classrooms embrace an emergent, play-based, arts-integrated, and anti-bias approach, where children's interests inspire learning and educators are encouraged to bring creativity, curiosity, and joy into every day.
Whether serving as a Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher, you'll help create a nurturing, engaging classroom where toddlers feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. You'll partner closely with families and colleagues to support each child's development while helping cultivate a positive, collaborative school culture.
What You'll Do
- Create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment for toddlers.
- Support or lead the implementation of developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences aligned with the Vermont Early Learning Standards.
- Integrate art, exploration, outdoor learning, and children's interests into daily curriculum.
- Foster children's social-emotional growth using positive guidance and relationship-based teaching practices.
- Observe, document, and communicate children's development with families and the teaching team.
- Collaborate with fellow educators and leadership to provide exceptional learning experiences for every child.
- Maintain compliance with Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations and ONE Arts policies.
- Assist with daily classroom routines including meals, diapering, toileting, transitions, and maintaining a clean, organized learning environment.
QualificationsLead Teachers
- Vermont Licensed Early Childhood Educator, or eligible for licensure.
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or 21+ ECE/Elementary Education credits).
- Experience working with toddlers in an early childhood setting.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
Assistant Teachers
- Meet Vermont qualifications for an Assistant Teacher, or be eligible to obtain them.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Commitment to learning and implementing developmentally appropriate practices.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a collaborative approach to teaching.
For All Candidates
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming classroom community.
