Job Overview
The Manufacturing Process Technician is responsible for performing specialized manufacturing processes that enhance, protect, and prepare products for final testing and shipment. This role supports production through precision potting, encapsulation, electropolishing, and related processing activities while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and engineering requirements. The technician plays a key role in maintaining product reliability through consistent process execution, accurate documentation, and attention to detail.
Duties
Potting & Encapsulation
- Perform potting and encapsulation of completed electronic assemblies using approved materials, ratios, and documented procedures.
- Prepare potting compounds accurately to ensure safe and contamination-free processing.
- Mix, degas, dispense, and cure potting materials in accordance with work instructions.
- Monitor fill levels, curing characteristics, and material performance throughout the process.
- Identify and report abnormalities such as bubbles, voids, contamination, or cure deviations.
- Maintain dispensing equipment, fixtures, and tools to ensure consistent operation.
- Document all potting activities in accordance with production travelers and quality requirements.
Electropolishing
- Perform electropolishing operations on components in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
- Prepare, handle, and maintain chemical solutions and process equipment safely.
- Monitor processing times, solution conditions, and component quality throughout the electropolishing process.
- Inspect completed components to verify surface finish and conformance to specifications.
- Maintain electropolishing equipment and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Process Support
- Prepare components and materials for manufacturing processes.
- Assist with material handling and movement of work between production operations.
- Maintain process records and manufacturing documentation.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Identify issues with potted assemblies, crystal components, or fabrication processes and develop corrective actions.
- Notify management of unsafe, worn or unsuitable equipment or materials.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure all potting, assembly, and fabrication work meets engineering specifications and workmanship standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment.
- Follow all handling, PPE, chemical safety and environmental requirements for potting materials.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to potting quality, process efficiency and material performance.
Qualifications
- Experience in potting, encapsulation, adhesives, resins, or chemical-based assembly processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams and work instructions.
- Proficiency with hand tools, dispensing tools, and basic measurement equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to execute controlled processes consistently.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with potted assemblies and materials.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and maintaining an organized, clean work environment.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
