Job Summary
The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for inspecting damaged vehicles, preparing accurate repair estimates, and working closely with customers, insurance companies, and the repair team to ensure a smooth repair process from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged vehicles and determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, and interior damage.
- Prepare accurate repair estimates, including labor, parts, and materials.
- Review repair estimates with the Body Shop Manager or Foreman.
- Coordinate with insurance adjusters to resolve estimate discrepancies when necessary.
- Determine whether damaged components should be repaired or replaced.
- Evaluate repair feasibility versus total loss based on vehicle value.
- Determine salvage value for total-loss vehicles when applicable.
- Complete required insurance documentation and repair recommendations.
- Estimate costs for repainting, customization, or specialty vehicle conversions as needed.
- Review final repair invoices for accuracy before vehicle delivery.
- Maintain strong working relationships with insurance representatives, customers, and internal team members.
- Provide outstanding customer service throughout the repair process.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Body Shop Estimator required.
- Knowledge of collision repair procedures and estimating software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record preferred.
