Job Summary
D&C Home Care is actively seeking Part-Time PSS caregivers to aide our clients in the Greater Bangor, Augusta and Midcoast areas. We are hiring for all shifts, with a particular need for weekend coverage. Starting pay is $22/Hr. We offer flexible schedules, as well as earned paid leave. Successful candidates should have Maine PSS certification but will train individuals who we believe would otherwise be a good fit. Candidates must be caring, compassionate, reliable, and have a valid drivers license with their own transportation. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for changes in health status, reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation
- Support clients with medication administration following care plans and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in meaningful activities to promote mental health and cognitive function
- Maintain cleanliness of the client’s living environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments, community activities, or personal errands using personal transportation assistance
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is preferred, but not required, for the right candidate.
- Demonstrated experience in patient observation, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or hospice care
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
- Hands-on experience with patient monitoring tools such as vital signs measurement and medication administration
- Familiarity with specialized care for individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, intellectual disabilities, or developmental disabilities support
- Experience working with seniors or individuals requiring long-term care support is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and documentation of care activities
