BEHAVIOR MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY: To efficiently and effectively manage student behaviors and foster a safe environment for all students.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Provides classroom management assistance and implementation of treatment plans for students classified as special education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist Classroom teacher with classroom behavior management including behavior intervention, de-escalation, and re-engagement.

Communicate with teacher to determine next steps and consequences after student is calm, safe and re-engaged in work.

Support and promote positive behaviors of students at all times and support students in making healthy, safe choices.

Comply with policies and procedures relating to student protection, health, safety and confidentiality.

Complete the behavior tracker on the date the incident occurred.

Report any restraints or seclusions to the building administrator.

Support students with completing assigned work.

Ensure students remain supervised at all times.

Accompany students and supervise student behavior on school buses/transportation vehicles.

Implement treatment plans as necessary in accordance with Board policy related to physical restraints and seclusion of students.which may mean physical restraints

Serve on interdisciplinary teams.

Attend and participate in clinical staff and faculty meetings.

Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, staff, and parents concerning behavioral concerns and progress of students.

Assist the classroom teacher with other functions as directed

Participate in all training and professional development sessions

Assist the behavior analyst with training of staff

Assume such other functions as may be determined by building administrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Some college courses highly desirable. Some experience working with disruptive behavior (especially with children).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Behavior managers will frequently be involved in restraining students in accordance with Board policy and must be physically able to handle this type of volatile situation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Hourly rate and benefits in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the East Hartford Public Schools and Local 1950 of Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO.
