The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the physical plant, grounds, and systems of the Perkiomen School to ensure a safe, clean, and optimal learning environment. This encompasses the 24-hour operational readiness of campus facilities, including dormitories, academic/classroom buildings, dining facilities, performing arts spaces, athletic fields, and administrative offices. The successful candidate will oversee daily tasks, preventive maintenance, vendor management, compliance with safety regulations, reliability of systems, and efficiency of operations.
Core Responsibilities:
· Oversee all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and security)
· Supervise buildings & grounds personnel
· Plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, vendor contracts, renovations, and construction projects across campus
· Maintain safety and emergency preparedness procedures (fire, security, weather)
· Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules
· Oversee energy management, sustainability initiatives, and environmental compliance
· Coordinate with Student Life on housing repairs and dorm safety
· Oversee snow removal, landscaping, and campus road maintenance
· Manage campus work orders and respond to facility emergencies
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and warranties
· Support school events through facility setup and logistics
· Ensure compliance with state and federal safety codes and inspections
· Work with Business Office to manage budgets, vendor relationships, and approve expenditures
· Serve as liaison to the Head of School and the Board Building & Grounds Committee
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
· 7+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience
· Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills
· Experience managing budgets and staff
· Comfortable living on or near campus for emergency response
· Strong project management and vendor negotiation skills
· Familiarity with independent school culture and campus operations
