Overview

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise excavation crews, assigning tasks and ensuring timely completion of work
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and horizontal drilling machinery
- Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and company policies to maintain a secure work environment
- Coordinate with project managers and other trades to align excavation activities with project timelines and specifications
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment like Caterpillar machinery to guarantee optimal performance and safety
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations, equipment usage, and safety checks
- Provide training and mentorship to crew members on equipment operation and safety procedures
Experience
- Proven experience in construction site management or excavation leadership roles
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drilling rigs, tankers, and paving machinery
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience operating various types of heavy vehicles such as dump trucks and water trucks
- Hands-on experience operating construction equipment from reputable brands like Caterpillar
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and OSHA regulations
- Familiarity with site layout planning and coordination of multiple machinery types during excavation projects
- Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects involving horizontal drilling or paving is a plus
- Understanding and familiar use of GPS equipment
