Maternal Support Worker Part Time Weekends

The Village (Maternity Group Home) is a residential program for young mothers and their children. We provide a safe place to live, the structure of a real home, and the kind of steady support that helps a young mom build the life she wants for herself and her baby.
The Maternal Support Worker is one of the people who makes that home feel like a home. You will help residents navigate the day-to-day, from morning routines to appointments to bedtime. You will model parenting skills without lecturing, hold the household structure without being rigid, and be a calm presence when things get hard. The work is practical and relational at the same time.
The Village is a program of Safe Harbor Center.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
You are patient, steady, and genuinely invested in the success of young mothers and their children. You can hold firm boundaries without losing warmth. You show up consistently. You take the work seriously without taking yourself too seriously.
SHIFT 1: Saturday (7AM-7PM)
SHIFT 2: Sunday (7AM-7PM)
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Support the home
- Keep residents (mothers and babies) safe at all times
- Help with meals, hygiene routines, household tasks, and the rhythm of daily life
- Plan and lead activities, outings, and structured routines that give the day shape
- Provide transportation to appointments and community activities in the program vehicle
Coach and model
- Model positive parenting and healthy life skills through everyday interactions
- Offer guidance on childcare, parenting, and community resources when residents are open to it
- Build the kind of trust that makes guidance welcome rather than unwanted
Respond when things get hard
- Provide calm, immediate support to mothers experiencing distress or urgent needs
- Respond to emergencies following established procedures
- De-escalate without escalating
Document and follow through
- Observe and document resident behavior, incidents, and shift activity
- Maintain thorough case notes while protecting confidentiality
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings
WHAT YOU BRING:
Required
- Age 21 or older with a high school diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and DFCS clearance
- Willingness and ability to work every weekend
Strongly preferred
- Prior experience working with children or families in social work, childcare, residential care, or a related field
- Familiarity with child welfare systems, DFCS processes, or family law basics
- Strong crisis-management instincts and the ability to stay grounded under pressure
- Communication style that respects the dignity of the people you're working with, especially when the topic is hard
