JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Buyer-Consumables is responsible for executing and supporting the food and beverage assortment across all Movement locations. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, this role manages weekly replenishment ordering, product setup and maintenance, vendor relationships, inventory availability, and assortment execution to ensure gyms have the right products available to meet member demand.
This role works closely with vendors, gym leaders, and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, support regional product programs, and maintain a compelling consumables assortment that aligns with Movement's retail strategy. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the national consumables assortment across all Movement locations, including beverages, snacks, and nutrition products.
- Execute weekly replenishment ordering for all Movement locations utilizing established replenishment tools, processes, and systems.
- Create, submit, and manage purchase orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels and product availability across the business.
- Identify and recommend new products, regional opportunities, and assortment adjustments by partnering with gym and regional leadership and leveraging sales performance, customer feedback, and market trends.
- Coordinate product lifecycle management, including item setup, assortment changes, launches, transitions, discontinuations, replacements, and ongoing item maintenance with vendors, retail teams, and gym teams.
- Conduct periodic pricing reviews to ensure products align with established margin expectations and business objectives.
- Monitor sales and inventory performance to identify out-of-stock risks, overstocks, and replenishment opportunities and trends.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve inventory shortages, shipping delays, product substitutions, and supply chain issues.
- Partner with Accounting team, vendors, and gym teams to resolve invoice discrepancies, monitor outstanding invoices, and ensure accurate and timely payment processing.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for consumables vendors, maintaining strong relationships while communicating needs, concerns, or opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Senior Buyer to execute category initiatives, strategies, vendor negotiations and major assortment decisions.
- Maintain accurate product data, pricing, costing, vendor information, and assortment records across all retail systems.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support retail programs, operational initiatives, training efforts, new gym openings, special projects, and other department priorities.
- The pay range for this role starts at $65,000 and may increase based on experience and qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 1–3 years of experience in buying, merchandising, inventory management, replenishment, retail operations, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience using Power Query, Pivot Tables, and reporting tools preferred.
- Experience working with multi-unit brick and mortar locations, with familiarity in consumables, merchandising, or inventory management preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret sales and inventory data.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
