Patient Billing Specialist – Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
Role and Responsibilities
Summary: Responsible for reducing the number of accounts receivable by billing claims; making payment arrangements and collecting outstanding accounts receivable.
BILLING
1. Run eligibility and check daily for all patients on schedule.
2. Resolves claims/billing issues daily works claim denials in a timely manner.
3. Post payments as they arrive from insurance Explanation of Benefits information to patient accounts.
4. Verify RML and/or LabCorp bills weekly against patient chart, researching and resolving any discrepancies.
5. Verify Front Desk/Pharmacy deposits from previous day, daily (EO only).
6. Enter good faith estimates into eClinical, print and mail daily.
7. Reviews all claims from previous day for accuracy.
8. Back up other Billing Specialist(s).
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. At least one year of medical business office experience required. One year of experience in entering data into Excel spreadsheets. Knowledge of payer sources and electronic medical records. Experience in accounts receivables preferred.
Preferred Skills - Excellent organizational skills; must possess a detailed oriented outlook; possess both good interpersonal skills and listening skills for interaction with both patients and other healthcare workers.
Mathematical Skills - Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals with or without a calculator. Ability to calculate percentages and averages.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Exposure to various software programs; Ability to learn and utilize eClinical and other software programs as needed.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
