American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Mother/Baby for a Level III Trauma Center Birth Center requiring at least 1 year of L&D and postpartum experience.

Birth Center unit within a Level III Trauma Center hospital totaling 375 licensed beds
-
Unit includes 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, 11 Level II NICU, 4 bed Peds, 20 bed Mother/Baby unit, 18 bed START perinatal addiction unit, and 3 OB ED beds (20 weeks and above)

Level II Perinatal Center caring for patients 32 weeks and above

Common diagnoses include hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, epidurals, and fetal monitoring
-
Handles antepartum care requiring continued fetal monitoring and post-labor mother/baby transition care
-
Approximately 175-200 deliveries per month
-
Patient ratios follow AWHONN and NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor and 1:2 for non-active laboring patients
-
12-hour night shifts scheduled 1900-0700 with rotating weekends every other week
-
36 hours per week with a 3-week schedule cycle
-
No on-call requirements
-
Floating limited to areas of competency, primarily between L&D and Mother/Baby, with no floating to the START unit
-
Uses Epic Stork and GE Centricity EMR systems
-
Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
-
Support staff includes 24/7 hospitalist, laborist OBGYN, OB group, midwife and family practice group, and 24/7 respiratory therapy for high-risk deliveries
-
No CNAs on the unit; phlebotomy services available and surgery techs available weekdays 0600-1500
-
NICU attends deliveries at 34 weeks or less as needed

Uses HUGS infant security system

Active WA or compact RN license required
-
Minimum 1 year of Mother/Baby or L&D experience required

Current BLS and NRP certifications required
-
Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN or Relia's module)
-
Strong labor and delivery skills required including cervical exams, antepartum and labor care, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV insertion, and Pitocin administration

Postpartum experience required, including couplet care and basic breastfeeding support
-
Pyxis medication dispensing system experience required

First-time travelers will be considered

Provide direct nursing care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and couplet care for mother and baby
-
Complete facility orientation including two shifts on the unit covering delivery and C-section/triage scenarios
-
Complete annual core competencies (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.), medication exam, and unit competency exam prior to arrival
-
Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday
-
RTO requests must be approved by the unit manager

Scrubs provided by facility
