Position Summary:
The Mohs Technician / Histology Professional is responsible for specimen processing, accessioning, slide preparation, laboratory organization, and maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Accession and prepare tissue specimens for laboratory processing.
· Prepare and organize slide trays for physician review.
· File and maintain pathology blocks and slides.
· Perform laboratory quality control procedures and documentation.
· Maintain laboratory records and testing documentation.
· Support laboratory equipment maintenance and procedural calibration activities.
· Identify and communicate laboratory concerns impacting workflow or test results.
· Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and laboratory protocols.
· Assist with laboratory organization and operational efficiency.
· Support patient-facing responsibilities as needed when laboratory workflow permits.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous Mohs Technician experience strongly preferred.
· Histotechnician or Histotechnologist experience highly desired.
· Medical Assistants or CNAs with experience cutting Mohs tissue are encouraged to apply.
· Associate degree in a science-related field required.
· Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred.
· Previous laboratory experience preferred.
· Knowledge of medical terminology.
· Strong typing and computer skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ideal Candidate:
· Experienced with specimen handling and tissue preparation.
· Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
· Familiar with laboratory workflows and quality assurance processes.
· Professional, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
· Open to assisting in patient-facing functions when needed.
