Job Overview
Steady Steps Counseling is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and growth-oriented Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LSCW) to join our outpatient mental health practice.
This position begins as part-time with a minimum commitment of 10 clinical hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role as your caseload develops.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to inform treatment planning.
- Deliver individual therapy sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and behavioral therapy.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes, including crisis management and behavior management techniques.
- Develop personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards, HIPAA regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for clients with co-occurring disorders, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or chronic pain conditions.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA compliance.
- Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with advances in mental health counseling, ICD coding updates, and best practices for outpatient care.

Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
- Current Licensed Social Worker (LCSW) in good standing in the state of NJ.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with diverse client populations.
- Strong clinical documentation and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and ethical standards of practice.
- Ability to work independently while actively participating in clinical supervision and team collaboration.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) or willingness to learn.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work in-office, hybrid, or remotely as required by the practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience through internships, practicums, or post-graduate employment.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families.
- Training or experience in trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), or other evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Desire to build a long-term career within a collaborative private practice.
