Compensation

Position Summary
Assists the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, in collaboration with the Hospital Epidemiologist, in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the hospital wide surveillance and infection prevention program. Supports managers, staff, physicians and other members of the healthcare team in addressing infection control issues.
Qualifications
Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Health Sciences, Public Health required
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Health Sciences, Public Health preferred
Experience And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- 3-5 years of experience as an Infection Preventionist preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Computer proficiency required
- Program/project management skills
- Report writing/data presentation skills
- Software technologies skills
License/Certifications
- Certification in Infection Control preferred
- Licensed and currently registered or otherwise duly authorized to practice as a professional nurse in New York State preferred OR-
- Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) as a Clinical Microbiologist. Certification in Infection Control preferred.
Working Conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
- Frequent, prolonged standing/walking.
- Required to the wear PPE, face shields, gloves, impermeable gown, particulate respirator, as needed.
