Welder Responsibilities:
As a key member of our team, the Welder is responsible for performing high-quality MIG and TIG welding and fabrication work in support of production and refurbishment operations. This role involves preparing and fitting components, completing welds to specification, inspecting finished work, and maintaining safe and efficient work practices. The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in both MIG and TIG welding and successfully pass a practical weld test.
Main responsibilities:
Welding & Fabrication:
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on components and assemblies in accordance with drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
- Prepare, fit, align, and position parts prior to welding to ensure proper dimensions and weld quality.
- Use appropriate welding techniques and settings based on material, joint configuration, and job requirements.
- Complete fabrication, repair, and rework assignments while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
Quality & Inspection:
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies for accuracy, strength, appearance, and conformance to specifications.
- Identify weld defects, dimensional issues, or other quality concerns and complete corrective work as needed.
- Use measuring tools and shop drawings to verify fit, alignment, and finished dimensions.
Equipment, Safety & Maintenance:
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain welding equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of welding materials and equipment.
Production & Coordination:
- Work closely with production, refurbishment, quality, and other team members to meet scheduling and production requirements.
- Communicate material, equipment, quality, or production issues that could affect completion of assigned work.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to welding quality, fabrication methods, safety, and efficiency.
Additional Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational, technical, or welding training preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of MIG and TIG welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar environment preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to produce quality MIG and TIG welds. Successful completion of a company-administered practical weld test is required.
· Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, measurements, and basic fabrication specifications.
· Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
