Duties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving trash containers and debris using manual handling techniques and mechanical equipment such as pallet jacks or carts
- Support the collection process by guiding trucks during pickup routes or helping with waste sorting at disposal sites
- Operate various types of commercial vehicles including dump trucks, box trucks, or flatbeds to transport waste materials safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment like forklifts or tow trucks to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by sweeping, organizing, and disposing of waste materials properly
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and report any issues or safety concerns promptly
- Assist in moving heavy loads or bulky items within warehouses or disposal sites using appropriate tools such as pallet jacks or manual lifting techniques
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with experience in commercial driving, route driving, shuttle driving, or bus driving preferred
- Familiarity with operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, dump trucks, tanker trucks, or tractor-trailers is a plus
- Prior experience in delivery driving, warehouse operations, or heavy haul transportation is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting heavy loads, moving debris, and standing for extended periods
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance or equipment operation is beneficial
- Prior experience with manual transmission vehicles or specialized commercial vehicles like limousines or yard jockeys is desirable
