Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Operate patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support dental sterilization procedures to uphold clinical confidentiality policies and infection control standards.
- Assist with dental instrument processing, including cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing tools for reuse in accordance with dental sterilization procedures.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting the dentist during procedures involving oral surgery or endodontics.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions to promote ongoing dental wellness.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and medical documentation practices is highly desirable.
- Understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and dental sterilization procedures is essential for maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team dedicated to patient care excellence.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and pediatric dentistry will support your success in this role.
