Lakeside Children’s Center, a cherished preschool in the heart of San Francisco's Lakeside neighborhood for 65 years, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our team. Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum of 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units or possession of a valid California Child Development Associate Teacher, Teacher, or Master Teacher Permit.
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
- CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter, Pesticides, Sexual Harassment, Workplace Violence Prevention, and OSHA Safety training required within 90 days of hire, with certification maintenance.
- LiveScan fingerprint and TB clearance.
- Strong understanding of child development, positive discipline, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Capable and willing to give continuous attention to the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of children in a loving and caring way.
- Physically able to regularly stand, sit, walk, reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, squat, stoop, run, and climb in the performance of daily activities and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Create a Nurturing Learning Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Curriculum Planning and Implementation: Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning experiences in collaboration with co-teacher, including large group, small group, and individual activities.
- Classroom Management: Promote positive behavior, support conflict resolution, and maintain a consistent classroom schedule with smooth daily transitions.
- Assessment and Documentation: Observe and assess children’s development and contribute photos, anecdotes, and documentation through Brightwheel to keep families informed and engaged.
- Family Communication: Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain ongoing, positive communication with families throughout the school year.
- Supervision and Safety: Ensure constant supervision of children, maintain required adult-child ratios, and follow all health and safety procedures, including incident and illness reporting.
- Team Collaboration: Guide and support teacher assistants and classroom volunteers while working collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive classroom culture.
- School Community Participation: Support school-wide events, including holiday performances, graduation, and family events that strengthen our community.
- Emergency Preparedness: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures and actively participate in drills and preparedness training.
- Professional Development: Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Performance Evaluation: Complete yearly performance evaluations to support continued growth and development.
- Flexibility: Be willing to perform other duties as needed to support the overall functioning of the school.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (8:00am-8:30am is paid prep time)
Classroom: Caterpillar (ages 2.5 years old to 3 years old)
