Job Overview
The Hospice Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the hospice organization’s compliance program to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, Medicare/Medicaid requirements, Conditions of Participation (CoPs), accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain the hospice organization’s compliance program.
- Monitor compliance with applicable CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, state hospice regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Conduct routine and focused audits of clinical documentation, patient records, billing practices, care plans, medication management, personnel files, and operational processes to identify compliance risks, deficiencies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare the organization for regulatory surveys, accreditation reviews, audits, and other external compliance inspections.
- Monitor compliance with hospice Conditions of Participation and applicable state requirements.
- Provide compliance education and training to nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, administrative staff, and other employees as appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of hospice regulations, CMS guidance, state requirements, and industry best practices.
- Investigate reported compliance concerns, complaints, incidents, and potential violations.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of audits, investigations, corrective actions, education, and compliance activities.
- Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities.
- Track compliance metrics and prepare reports for executive leadership and governing body review.
- Participate in policy and procedure development and revisions.
- Promote ethical conduct, patient rights, confidentiality, and adherence to hospice standards of care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas and Oklahoma, where the hospice operates.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional hospice nursing experience
- Previous experience with healthcare compliance, quality assurance, clinical auditing, regulatory readiness, or accreditation preferred.
- Working knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and CMS Conditions of Participation.
- Strong understanding of clinical documentation, patient care standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct audits, identify deficiencies, analyze trends, and develop effective corrective actions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office or comparable software.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
