Do you enjoy preparing meals, working with a team, and making a difference in the lives of students? The Verona Area School District is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Cook to join our Nutrition Services team.
As a Cook, you'll help prepare and serve nutritious meals that supports student learning and well-being. Every meal served contributes to creating a welcoming school environment where students are ready to learn. What You'll Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals to students and staff.
- Operate a point-of-sale system or other device to record food purchases.
- Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies.
- Wash dishes and maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and cafeteria.
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Provide friendly, positive customer service while working collaboratively with the Nutrition Services team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in food preparation, baking, or food service (1–6 months preferred).
- Training in sanitation, food handling, quantity cooking, or customer service.
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
- Bilingual Spanish language skills are highly valued.
