JETS is an EOE/AAE.
Shifts for this position begin as early as 7:30 AM and end as late as 4:30 PM
This position is responsible for performing job duties and responsibilities for the quality teaching & learning services for the teaching staff as directed by the Program Assistant or Executive Director.
Does not supervise any employee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment, both indoors and outdoors that is developmentally and age appropriate that is responsive and nurturing tho the children's; needs and interests.
- Provide each classroom teacher with time for breaks and planning as scheduled or as directed by the Program Assistant.
- Substitute in classrooms when assigned.
- Assist teachers as needed.
- Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with groups and individual children.
- Help promote communication, play and socialization between children in the classroom.
- Perform required care-giving activities as needed for children (i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.)
- Actively supervise children at all times and respond to their needs appropriately and use behavior management strategies that align with agency standards and policies..
- Follow classroom lesson plans, substitute plans and classroom schedules and routines.
- Follow a consistent schedule as established in the classroom that you are working.
- Listen and respond to children with respect.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures.
- Ensure that professional ethics and confidentiality are maintained.
- Be an advocate for all children, families, and this agency.
- Take advantage of available training in the education field.
- Report any problems or concerns to the Program Assistant and/or Executive Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to pass all criminal background checks
- Must have a valid driver’s license to be placed on agency insurance and drive agency vehicles.
- Within in 30 days of employment, must be Pediatric CPR & First Aide certified and have a clear TB skin test
- Must be a steady reliable worker
- Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after given specific instructions
- Must display strong written and verbal skills. Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired
- Must show all competencies listed in the job description for “All Staff”
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, crouch, stand for several hours, walk short distances and reach heights
- Vision sufficient for supervision of children
- Must have sufficient strength and manual skill to lift children
- Must obtain a work physical within 90 days of employment and an annual physical thereafter.
