Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing ingredients and assembling dishes according to established recipes and menu plans
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, slicers, and food processors
- Follow strict food safety protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all ingredients and utensils
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, cooking areas, and equipment through regular cleaning routines
- Support meal preparation for catering events or daily service, ensuring timely delivery of quality food
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Adhere to all safety standards during food production to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Proven food service or restaurant experience with knowledge of food industry best practices
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and knife handling including slicing methods
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal assembly processes
- Knowledge of food safety management systems and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment efficiently and safely under supervision
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and kitchen staff
- Experience in catering or serving environments is a plus but not required
