Position Summary:
Performs a variety of duties relating to the provision of meals to patients and customers and nourishment to patients.
What You’ll Do:

Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, including blenders, toasters, and frappe machines.

Ensures that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste, and appearance.

Ensures that all cooking equipment and utensils used are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.

Ensures that all required sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process.

Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies, equipment, or other unusual conditions.

Follows proper food handling techniques using US Food Code standards. Records food and food storage temperatures as required.

Operates and safely uses all types of food service production equipment.

Uses FIFO standards when utilizing food supplies.

Maintains a clean and organized work area. Responsible for meeting the Manchester Board of Health and the US Food Code standards.

Participates in opening and closing responsibilities.

Assists in dish washing and other clean up and helps co-workers whenever possible.

Participates in fire safety, quality management, food safety, disaster plan, accident prevention and reporting, and infection control.

Performs general routine and non-routine cleaning duties.

Ensures that equipment and utensils used are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation.

Maintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Being the Face of the Food Services Department – Bringing trays of food to patients and patient units throughout the Hospital.
Essential Job Functions:

Ability to establish and maintain effective communications and positive working relationships within the department, with other employees, and the public.

Ability to proceed alone following standard practices for routine procedures and refer questions or problems to supervisor.

Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials.
-
Schedule may include variable workdays, including but not limited to every other weekend; 5:30 am to 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm; and rotating major holidays.
Position Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required or in the process of obtaining.

License/Certification: ServSafe certification preferred.
-
Experience: Previous patient experience preferred.
-
Skills: Basic computer knowledge; email, website navigation.
